Colleagues
One of the best parts of going to work is enjoying the people you work with. It makes all the difference in the world and this past weekend was a perfect example at the Symphony Silicon Valley concerts.
Patti Whaley and Robin Mayforth were no only soloists but members of the orchestra. That makes for a special connection between the players and the piece. For Mozart the horns moved right behind the strings to be in close proximity of the oboe section with Pam Hakl and Patty Mitchell (see photo below).
If you missed it you can read the review in the San Jose Mercury.

What a fun wind section that was!
You’re very fortunate to have such a wonderful group of people to work with. They’re very nice people as well as excellent musicians.
You’re so right, Beth. It was such a wonderful feeling being surrounded by friends in the orchestra, in the audience, and of course standing next to me. A real peak experience in my life.
Thanks everyone for your comments. We are spoiled here in the Bay Area by having such great musicians who are also compassionate people. I think that is what makes playing with Symphony Silicon Valley so special.
